The 46th Annual Chicago Pride Parade is this Sunday. Last years parade had over a million attendees so be prepared for organized chaos.
There was talk last year of moving it downtown in 2016 because the parade has gotten so huge. Now word is that they’ve shortened it somewhat from 200 floats to 150 and it should come in at just under 3 hours. I think it’s more fun because its nestled into its native habitat up in Boystown. Anyway…
When: Sunday, June 26, 2016 12noon
Where: Parade starts at Montrose and Broadway, heads south down Broadway to Halsted, Belmont, Broadway and ends at Diversey and Sheridan.
Admission free. The weekend before is Pride Fest.
The parade is four miles long with people lined up 10 or more deep, crowded on balconies and jammed into bars and restaurants. Less crowded areas to view the parade are near the beginning of the route along Broadway between Montrose Avenue and Sheridan Road or further along Broadway between Belmont Avenue and Diversey Parkway.
Be prepared for anything more than 500,000 people attend. It’s a wild time of exuberance and celebration. Great people watching.
