The Chicago Pride Parade is one of the oldest and largest pride parades in the country. Filled with floats, music, local celebrities and performers, Chicago’s Pride Parade is one of the most anticipated events in Pride month. The 52nd annual Chicago Pride Parade kicks off on June 25, 2023, in the Uptown neighborhood.
Winding through four miles and four neighborhoods, Chicago Pride Parade caps off Pride Month with music, dance, food, floats and high spirits. The parade starts at noon at Montrose and Broadway but arrive at least three hours before to stake out a good spot along the parade route. View the parade map here.
If you can’t snag a good spot, don’t worry. The Chicago Pride Parade crowds are just as entertaining as the parade itself. After the parade, head to bars and restaurants in the North Halsted Boystown area for more celebrations.
The history of the Chicago Pride Parade is significant to general LGBTQ history. The parade started as a protest to the Stonewall Riots in New York City in 1970. This political march developed into an annual parade celebrated during the last weekend of June. The parade has expanded into the city’s second-largest parade, attracting over one million people.
