The annual 1865 Fest brings cultural family activities, live music, educational workshops, food and fun to Garfield Park for two days, June 19-20, 2026. Honoring the Juneteenth holiday that brought freedom to enslaved Americans two years after official emancipation in 1865, the free events connect culture, history and community.

Each day highlights a different theme and supplies cultural performances, live music. free food and educational workshops. June 19th is Youth and Family Day and features carnival games, bouncy houses, basketball competitions, obstacle courses and live entertainment. June 20th pays tribute to Isaac, “Lord Haiti” Johnson, with music and community celebrations.
The fest events take place in the Music Court Drive in Garfield Park at 100 N.Central Park Ave. Admission is free but registration is suggested. The events run from noon to 8 pm on June 19 and June 20.
