Some recent business took me to Madison, Wisconsin, and I had some extra time in my schedule. What better way to spend it than checking out an outlet store?
The Company Store, purveyors of high-end comforters and linens, is based in Wisconsin. The outlet featured a good selection of colors and styles, including patterns for children, organic cottons, and towels galore. This being fall, there was an especially nice assortment of children’s beach towels left over from summer, but there were also some children’s parkas and snowpants.
What I liked is that you can buy sheets as separates rather than sets. Sheets don’t wear out evenly, and it seems stupid to buy a set if you just need a new flat sheet. Here, you can do that, and I bought a queen-sized organic cotton fitted sheet for $29.24 after all the discounts kicked in.
There was a small clearance section in the back that was worth checking out, with pillowcases at $4.99 per pair.
If you find yourself in Madison and need linens, this is worth a visit. There’s also a Company Store outlet at the Pleasant Prairie outlet mall in Kenosha, a more reasonable trip for most people in Chicago.
