Chicago’s winter weather is the perfect time to practice the Swedish concept of fika ( pronounced fee-kah), which means spending downtime with coffee, cakes and getting cozy with friends. Head to Andersonville to enjoy all sorts of comforting treats during the Andersonville Fika Fest, February 7-8, 2026.

Warm your spirit with the Coffee and Hot Cocoa Crawl on February 7. Select a route for either beans or brew, collect your commemorative cup and prepare to sip in five different cafes from 10 am-2 pm. Savor hot chocolate and cinnamon donuts, blueberry buttermilk biscuits and ginger tea on the Bean route and Mexican hot chocolate, Swedish pastries and drinking chocolate torched with vanilla bean marshmallows on the Brew Route.
This is a sample of the offerings on each route. Stops are updated until the event opening. Be sure to check in at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark, for your route card and commemorative mug. Purchase tickets for $30 here.
Nibble and shop at neighborhood restaurants and boutiques with special Fika Fest promotions all weekend. Top off the fest at the Great Andersonville Puzzle Exchange on February 8. Drop off new or gently used puzzles and take different ones home. You can take as many puzzles as you brought for exchange, with a limit of 15. Puzzle drop-offs begin on February 2 at 5706 N.Clark.

Champion puzzlers can compete in the free Great Andersonville Puzzle Thrown Down, where the fastest puzzler wins a prize. Sign up here for the competition that involves five rounds and 15 participants. The contest takes place from 11 am- 2 pm. Secret puzzles will be handed out for the speediest completion.
