Apple is celebrating Black History Month with free events that embody the theme of “Black resistance through art.” The Apple Michigan Avenue store will host events on February 16, 2023, and February 18, 2023.
Exploring the depth and richness of the African diaspora, the events will showcase emerging Black creators who are pushing boundaries through the arts. On February 16 at 6:30 pm, Apple will host a conversation between Des Owusu, Co-director of Azania Drum and photographer Lawrence Agyei about their creative collaborations and growing up as first-generation Ghanaians.
On February 18 at 2:00 pm, Azania Drum, a group that embodies culture, and creativity in Chicago and teaches children how to play the Djembe and DunDun drums, will perform. Both events are free but registration is encouraged.
