Chicago theater tickets range from major local theater performances to small community theaters but Broadway in Chicago features productions straight from New York’s Broadway. Ticket prices can be steep but there are options to score deals and discounts.
What are Rush Tickets?
Broadway in Chicago (BIC) is a theatrical production company that presents shows at five theaters in Chicago (see list below). BIC will sometimes offer Rush tickets, which are $25 Day-of-Show tickets available for sale at the theater box office only. The $25 is all in – no additional fees. Some rush tickets are available to the general public and some are only available to student/teacher/senior/military. Not all shows offer Rush tickets. Deals vary by show.
How Broadway in Chicago Rush Tickets work
- Rush tickets are only available on the day of the performance, when the box office opens at the theater where the show is located.
- Limit of 2 tickets per valid ID.
- You can email Broadway in Chicago at customerservice@broadwayinchicago.com and they may tell you how many rush tix are available. My advice is to arrive super early and bring something to read/portable chair.
Ticket lotteries
Sometimes, Broadway in Chicago has ticket lotteries for $25 tickets for certain shows. The day before the show, the lottery opens at 9:00 AM. At 5:00 PM, they will send you an email indicating whether you won. You can only win a maximum of two $25 tickets. If you win, you have one hour to purchase the tickets. The fee is $3 per ticket. The day of the show you can pick up your tickets thirty minutes before the show. I showed up an hour and fifteen minutes early and they had the tickets. You must show a valid ID and it must match the name of the lottery winner.

$87 ticket for $25
As an example, I was able to score an $87 ticket located in the third row, center orchestra at the Cadillac Palace Theater for $25. I waited in line with six other people for 45 minutes. Generally, the box office opens at 10 AM, so I arrived at 9:15 AM. Cha-ching!
