Chicago’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood produced many of the city’s legendary music, literary and art notables, including jazz innovators like Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong and Nat “King” Cole. This legacy will be celebrated at the Bronzeville Neighborhood Jazz Fest on August 3, 2024.
Bronzeville’s striking brownstones and grand boulevards will serve as the backdrop for the free Bronzeville Neighborhood Jazz Fest, which will be located in the parking lot of Mariano’s, on Martin Luther King Drive, between 37th and 39th Streets, from noon to 8:30 pm.
The impressive music line-up includes noted trumpeter Corey Wilkes, Carolos Cannon, Marqueal Jordan and the Chris Miskel Band. Local vendors will showcase their products and food trucks including Harlod’s Chicken will serve tasty eats.
This year’s fest will also feature a Kids Zone, a Senior Lounge for elders to relax and a cigar truck to try out select smokes. The event aims to inspire the next generation of jazz fans as well as supply a showcase for local talent.
Free parking, small crowds and free admission make this one of the most accessible music fests in the city.
