Cheap and Chic: $7 Cocktails at Cache 310

Chicago is filled with bars and lounges that deliver tasty but pricey drinks and cocktails. Patrons at downtown bars can expect to spend $14-$20 for basic mixed drinks but there’s a new bar in town that offers style, a charming atmosphere and elevated cocktails for only $7.

Inspired by classic French lounges, Cache 31 unfolds in a hidden pocket behind Union Station. Dimly lit and arranged with wine-colored accents and leather seating, the intimate lounge recalls a classic speakeasy.

A favorite after-work spot for professionals in the West Loop Gate neighborhood, the sophisticated drinks and vibey aura draw cocktail fans but the prices attract patrons from all over the city.

Every Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to midnight, Cache 310 features $7 Heaven- an exciting lineup of signature cocktails at the budget price. Standouts include New Orleans, a concoction of Sazerac rye, brandy, Peychaud’s and orange bitters with Demerara sugar, spritzed with absinthe perfume and Cinderella in Paris, a blend of green apple Vodka, watermelon juice, ginger shrub and Mallorca melon tea served in a teacup.

With chef-driven ingredients and dramatic touches like a cut-glass atomizer used to spritz absinthe and truffled popcorn topping the Popcorn Au Beurre martini, many of the cocktails aren’t just drinks but whole experiences. The lounge also hosts a happy hour from 6-8 pm Monday through Thursday with signature cocktails for $10 and beer and seltzer for $5.

Small bites like fried calamari, crab salad, truffle fries and cheese and meat boards are also available to soak up the alcohol. Cache 310 is located at 310 S. Canal, be sure to allow time to find it because the building is tucked in a corner and not easy to spot.
