The rich history of Chicago soul music comes alive during the annual Chi Soul Fest at Navy Pier on June 15-16, 2024. This free, two-day music fest presents local musicians in the Beer Garden and at the Polk Bros Park Performance Lawns.
Chicago’s influential standing as a producer of major soul artists reaches back to the 60s and 70s when stars like Etta James, Curtis Mayfield, Jerry Butler, Chaka Khan, The Emotions, Donny Hathaway, Minnie Riperton and Earth, Wind and Fire recorded classic hits.
The Chi Soul Fest draws upon that legacy and supplies a line-up that reflects both classic and contemporary soul music. This year’s fest features House DJ Lori Branch, blues musician Jamah Rogers and singer/songwriter Meagan McNeal.
The festival runs from 1 pm to 11:00 pm on Saturday, June 15 and from 2 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 16.
