The Uptown neighborhood celebrates its 41-year tradition of honoring the Lunar New Year with the Argyle New Year Celebration on February 21, 2026. The festivities include a colorful parade, family fun activities, an art walk and restaurant offerings.

March on down to honor the Year of the Horse with a parade that kicks off at 1 pm at Argyle and Sheridan. Arrive early to get great views of the floats, dancers and performers. At 10:30 and 11:30 am, grab the kids for stories and snake-themed crafts at the Bezazian Branch, 1226 W. Ainslie, until 11.

After the parade, local groups including CMAA Youth Dancers (lion and lotus) and Hoang Phuc Lion Dance Association will perform from 1:45-2:30 pm at Argyle and Winthrop.
A special Lunar New Year Market will open with vendors selling food, crafts and gifts at Uni Uni, 1130 W. Argyle, from 11-4 pm. RSVP to attend the parade and you’ll be entered to win free prizes from Argyle businesses.
When all the festivities wind down after 4 pm, check out the local restaurants along Argyle Street for Lunar New Year foods like noodles and Chinese dumplings. Then pick up the Uptown Public Art Map for a self-guided art walk along Argyle.
