Experience a 19th century saloon. The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel is recreating a 19th Century saloon, Foxy Ed’s, complete with booze and themed events.
When: May 3rd- 26th on Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings, 5pm-Midnight.
Where: Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, 12 S. Michigan Avenue
Enjoy whiskeys, beer, and mixed spirits and events such as jug jams, poker lessons, modern burlesque. “Come raise a glass to those infamous saloon keepers who colored our city’s past – “Bathhouse John” Coughlin, Michael “Hinky Dink” Kenna, and of course, Edward F. “Foxy Ed” Cullerton”.
Foxy Ed Cullerton was a long serving alderman and lived at 1632 W. Cullerton. When he died in 1920 the City renamed 20th Street Cullerton Avenue. I can’t find where his bar was located, if he had one.
No deals just fun
I’ve yet to find a way to drink at a discount at the Chicago Athletic Association. I don’t think there are any deals associated with these events. It’s just something fun to do. And while you’re there, if you haven’t already been, check out Cindy’s with great rooftop views of Millennium Park.
