The Vienna Beef Factory Store, at Damen and Fullerton, is a delight for the encased meat fan who also loves a bargain.
The store has seconds and bulk packs of its favorite products, including hot dogs, Polish sausage, and pickles. In early 2013, a box of 40 hot dogs was $28.95, and a beautiful 2-pound cheesecake marked “slightly imperfect” was just $4.00. Slightly imperfect meats were $3.99 per pound.
The factory store also has a cafe where you can get hot dogs, deli sandwiches, and fries at reasonable prices.
