Chicago Park District Pumpkin Patches.
This time of year, it’s tempting to pack everyone in the car to drive to a pumpkin patch in the far reaches of Lake, McHenry, or Kane counties. Inevitably, you’ll sit on the expressway and be too cranky to enjoy the fun.
These offer games and activities for kids at different parks around the city. The prices vary, but are low: some patches charge an all-inclusive $10 per child, while others are priced per-activity and per-pumpkin. The mix of activities includes crafts, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and petting zoos. The best part is that you won’t have to sit in traffic!
The Park District has a Halloween page on its web site so that you can find an event near you and learn more about its activities and pricing.
