Chicago’s extensive Irish history and heritage will be on glorious display at the downtown Chicago 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, at 12:15 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
This annual event full of floats, music, dancing and fun, is one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the country. This year is the 70th anniversary of this unforgettable event that draws visitors from around the world.
Deck yourself out in your most flamboyant green outfit and enjoy this three-hour event which will feature The Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band as well as Irish step dancers, bagpipers and marching bands.

The parade kicks off on Columbus Drive at Balbo and proceeds north to Monroe. The parade route is .6 of a mile. Entry to the parade route opens at 9 AM and will only be permitted at Jackson Avenue and Ida B. Wells Drive.
Security checkpoints will be set up for entry to the parade route. Security will be checking all bags and purses. Coolers, alcohol or open beverages and personal water bottles will not be allowed in or along the parade route.
Locals typically arrive to line up as early as 7 AM so expect long lines to enter the parade route. Layers and comfortable shoes are a must for this exciting, three-hour-long experience.
