Enjoy the increasingly rare experience of browsing through magazines, newspapers and books, without a digital device in sight. The analog adventures continue with live musical concerts during the City News Cafe concert series on weekends through July 26, 2026.

Head to this old school treasure for hard-to-find periodicals and books as well as coffee, tea, pastries and handcrafted chocolates. City News Cafe offers tables to read and enjoy your snacks but many readers don’t know that this low-key spot turns into a live music venue on the weekends.
Listen to a range of live music, including blues, folk and jazz during the shop’s free daytime concert series. Every Saturday and Sunday, the cafe hosts an hour-long performance from local musicians. The times vary but on June 27, blues musician Tom Holland will take the stage at 11 am and on June 28, Studebaker John and Earl Howell will play blues tunes at 11 am.
City New Cafe is located at 4018 N. Cicero and is open from 8 am to 8 pm daily. Grab a book and a treat and enjoy free music. Here’s the schedule for July:
