Where to donate items during Covid. I was speaking to a friend with a large house who is doing a big clear out and was wondering if there was anywhere to drop anything off. Unfortunately the answer is no. I read somewhere a while ago that people were dumping their stuff outside of closed Goodwill and Salvation Army locations and the charities just throw everything away either because it’s been exposed to the elements or it may be contaminated.
Now is probably the only time you’ll have to really clear out and get organized. Just check all the donation websites for what they accept. There are many things they do not accept. Don’t donate your used undergarments, t-shirts, worn out clothing, broken items, VHS tapes and many other things. Charities have to spend money disposing of our junk in dumpsters. If you’re in the burbs acquire stickers from your town in order to dispose of extra items. Try to recycle what you can according to your local rules but otherwise toss it.

Keep clearing out!
Keep clearing out. This is a temporary situation so don’t slow down or use this as an excuse to procrastinate. There will be huge need once the lockdown is lifted. If you have a house, garage or car just put the items in bags or boxes and store them until charities reopen. If you’re in a small apartment or condo just fill boxes and stack them up. Just label the box where you want them to go.
Sell stuff online
If you’re familiar with ebay oe decluttr try selling stuff online. Of course keep in mind you’ll have to go to the post office to ship it.
Consignment
Try consigning your items and you may make some extra cash. TheRealReal Sotheby’s Home thredUP(you can also donate to thredUP)
