The 27th annual Englewood Jazz Festival presents an exciting line-up of established and emerging Chicago musicians for three days in the Englewood community on September 17-19, 2026.

Live the Spirit Residency at Hamilton Cultural Center educates and mentors the next generation of jazz musicians. The free festival will open with the residency’s leader, Ernest Dawkins, presenting “Fannie Lou Hammer: No One Could Contain Her,” dedicated to the civil rights icon with a mix of jazz improvisations, spoken word and spirituals, on September 17 at 6:30 pm.
The free fest will also present centennial tributes to the jazz icons Oscar Brown Jr., John Coltrane and Miles Davis as well as original music over three days of creative expression.
Other performers included in this impressive line-up are bassist and composer Jeremiah Hunt, revered vocalist Dee Alexander, trumpeter and educator Dakarai Barclay, acclaimed vocal duo Maggie and Africa Brown and pianist, composer and producer Julius Tucker.
The Englewood Jazz Festival schedule is 5:30 pm on September 17 and 18 and noon- 6 pm on September 19. Limited seating will be provided but the audience is advised to bring their own chairs and blankets.
