BeerGoose Island was the first of the Chicago microbreweries, and now it’s almost reached macro status. The main brewery, on the Near West Side and the 1800 North Clybourn locations offer tours of their operations.

Goose Island Brewery, 1800 W. Fulton, (312) 226-1119.  Hourly tours Thursdays 2:00 pm-6:00 pm; Fridays  2:00 pm- 7:00 pm; Saturdays 12:00 pm-7:00 pm; Sundays 12:00 pm-4:00 pm. The cost is $12 and includes a custom glass. Reservations can be made here.

Goose Island was sold to Anheuser-Busch, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, of Belgium for $38.8 million in 2011.
