African American LitFest: Writing & Getting Your Book in the Library Tuesday, February 20, 2018 (4:00PM – 8:00PM)
Participants will meet local African American authors such as Walter M. Perkins publishers, and enjoy programs, storytelling, panel discussions, crafts and more.
The schedule for writing and getting your book in the library day is as follows:
4:30 PM – Walter M. Perkins (A Chicago-based journalist and communications professional with more than 25 years experience) will discuss writing for publication techniques found in his book, Write Right, Right Now.
6:30 PM – African American Services Committee members will conduct a panel discussion on how self-published books get added to the CPL collections. The discussion will include an overview of the process for submitting books for review, who reviews the books, metrics used in analyzing books, and a question and answer session. Author booths, games, crafts and activity stations available throughout the day.
