Free audiobooks at Chicago Public Library. The CPL provides patrons with free access to audiobooks through RBdigital which allows you to borrow audiobooks on your computer, tablet and phone.
How to get a free RBdigital account
You must have a CPL library card. Go to the RBdigital or app to set up an account. When you create a login you will be required to enter your library card number.
How it works
The CPL allows patrons to borrow up to 10 eaudiobooks titles from RBdigital each month. You can browse by genre – biography, history, travel etc. You can do a general search and once titles are up you can filter for further for categories such as Availability. Audiobooks are good for 21 days. Here’s a helpful tutorial FAQ
The selection is not that great but it is free. I’m sure it’s a combination of greedy authors, estates and publishers and limited library funding. Still there are about 1,300 books. There’s no way to sort by book publication date.
When you login you what view you’ve borrowed under settings. When I tried to limit my the number of books I see I went into Settings and selected “Classics” and saved it. When i went back it showed me all the books so it does not work.
