Discover the music and stories of the legendary musicians who helped create the Chicago blues genre during the free live blues series, “Chicago Bound: The Great Migration of the Blues,” on July 6, August 3 and September 6, 2024, in parks across the city.
Listen to the songs of pivotal Chicago blues musicians like Koko Taylor, Muddy Water, Willie Dixon and Memphis Minnie, while learning about their journey from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago.
Chicago musician Lucy Smith and the Lucy Smith Quintet will perform the music and Chicago media personality Cheryl Corley will narrate the stories for an exciting presentation of the history of Chicago Blues.
The shows are scheduled for July 6 in Bronzeville’s Ellis Park, 3520 S. Cottage Grove, at 6 pm, August 3 in Morgan Park’s Ada Park, 11250 S. Ada, at 3:45 pm and September 6 in West Rogers Park’s Warren Park, 6601 N. Western at 6 pm.
“Chicago Bound” is part of the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks, the concerts last 90 minutes and are free to the public.
