Grab a blanket or chair, pack a picnic and head to parks all over the city for the beloved annual Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks. This year’s pop-up events will mix popular music and interdisciplinary art with scenes and speeches from Shakespeare’s plays that explore how we can all be heroes in our everyday lives. The performances run from July 25-August 5, 2023 in Chicago parks.
This year’s show is called “The Hero Within” and the new work is filled with an imaginative spirit. At each Shakespeare performance around the city, a specially equipped truck rolls into the park, a stage unfolds, and a company of professional actors shares Shakespeare’s jubilant, music-infused works with families and neighbors of all ages.
Shows will be performed in the Englewood, Pilsen, Austin, Chinatown, Little Village and West Pullman neighborhoods. All performances start at 6:30 pm. Check out the schedule below.
