The program will feature an excerpt of the fourth movement of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. The concert continues with the world premieres of seven new pieces that were commissioned this week by the Civic Orchestra in celebration of its 100th anniversary. Written in response to the challenges facing the global community COVID-19 pandemic, and taking musical inspiration from the Civic musicians’ individual recordings of Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 5.
The performance was recorded remotely this week by over sixty Civic Orchestra musicians and compiled as a “virtual symphony” performance.
