The essence of Summer in Chicago is listening to free concerts in the architectural beauty of Millennium Park. The beloved Millennium Park Summer Music Series soars away from July 1-August 8, 2024. The free concerts will run on Monday and Thursday evenings.
The concerts feature a diverse range of genres, including pop, country, R&B, house, salsa, jazz, blues and alternative from both established and emerging musicians. This year’s performers include British pop star Corinne Bailey Rae, banjo master Bela Fleck and reggae star Protoje.
Sink back into the lawn or grab a seat in the pavilion and soak up the sounds. Arrive early for the best seats. Concession stands sell food and drinks or pack a picnic.
This year’s concerts include a special Millennium Park 20th Anniversary Celebration, July 18-21, 2024. The four-day festivities include a Latin Music fest on July 18, Common performing with the Grant Park Orchestra on July 20 and a house music showcase, the S&S Experience, on June 21.
The Grant Park Orchestra will also perform the music from “Star Wars,” “Harry Potter” and other music by composer John Williams on July 19, 2024.
Enjoy a special 20th birthday celebration with the Chicago classic, Eli’s Cheesecake by Cloud Gate on July 20. The birthday activities also include roving musicians and performances by the Chicago Physical Theater throughout the day.
Remember that it’s not just music that you can enjoy in Millennium Park. The green space also hosts a free movie series for the summer. Lay out on the lawn and watch classics like “ET” and “Jurassic Park.”
