Discover the dynamic culture of Puerto Rico and Chicago’s strong link to the island by taking a free docent-led tour of the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The tour is scheduled for May 30, 2026.

Roam through the historic National Puerto Rican Museum building and learn about the significance of the structure and the surrounding park designed by the legendary architect Jens Jensen.
Guests will also gain insight into the museum’s current exhibits, including “Diasporic Collage: Puerto Rico and the Survival of a People,” which explores the overlapping histories of colonialism, resistance and survival and “Abuela’s House,” a mixed media series of seventeen scenes that highlight the spirit and traditions of women who have carried on across generations, by artist Deystini “Desi” Swoope.
The tour starts at noon in the gift shop and ends at 1:15. Participants receive a 10 percent discount at the gift shop. Register for the free tour on May 30, 2026, in advance here.
