The women who have helped create and nurture Chicago’s influential arts community are honored with a dazzling exhibit called “Giving Her Her Flowers” on display at Navy Pier through April 22, 2025.

Discover the impact and cultural contributions of 14 women who have helped shape Chicago’s arts scene. The exhibit is curated by Dana Todd Pope and features custom fine art portraits of woman leaders, writers, executives, teachers, filmmakers and innovators .
Stroll through the showcase and discover the images and impact of Chicago women changemakers like Jackie Taylor, founder and CEO of Black Ensemble Theater, which has produced award-winning musical productions for 47 years, Dr. Margaret Burroughs, arts and founder of the ground-breaking DuSable Black History Museum and Sandra Jackson-Opoku, prize-winning novelist, poet and screenwriter.

The exhibit supplies a great visual and background lesson on Chicago arts community history. “Giving Her Her Flowers” is open from 11-8 pm daily on the first floor of Navy Pier. Admission is free.
