Free Museum Days for December

When the weather outside is frightful, head to Chicago museums for an indoor cultural adventure. In December, many museums offer free days for Illinois residents to enjoy the exhibits so mark these dates on your calendar.

The Field Museum will offer free admission for Illinois residents on December 12, 2023. Check out the museum’s new dinosaur, Spobek the Spinosaurus and browse the new exhibits, “First Kings of Europe” and”Bloodsuckers: Legends to Leeches.”

Explore one of the most extensive art collections in the world at the Art Institute of ChicagoEnjoy lights twinkling around the grand staircase and wreaths around the iconic lions while viewing exhibits like “Picasso: Drawing From Life,” Camille Claudel” and “Canova: Sketching in Clay”. The Art Insitute is free on weekdays for Illinois residents through December 22, 2023.

Absorb the city’s rich history at the Chicago History Museum with displays like “City on Fire” Chicago 1871″ and “Back Home: Polish Chicago”. The museum is free for Illinois residents on December 13, 2023.

View “The Dark Side of the Moon” and “Skywatch Live” at the Adler Planetarium, which offers free admission for Illinois residents every Wednesday in December from 4- 10 pm.
