There’s no more quintessential Chicago winter music festival than the annual Music Frozen Dancing block party outside the iconic Empty Bottle indie music venue. This year’s frigid fun kicks off on February 21, 2026.

Grab your warmest puffer jacket and head to Logan Square for the best outdoor winter event of the season. This beloved neighborhood concert has been “defying winter since 2014.” This year’s line-up features beloved Bolivian siblings, Los Thuthanaka and their hypnotic beats, the hardcore punk of Lip Critic, guitar pop vibes from Good Flying Birds, Chicago hardcore sounds from Snuffed and post punk new wave from Body Shop.
Music Frozen Dancing includes the chance to get warm inside The Empty Bottle, where DJs from Decoder and Trakqwn will command the turntables and bartenders will serve up drinks but the most excitement is always outside with the crowd jumping and dancing in the chilly weather. Heat lamps are also available to huddle under outside.

The concert is always free but donations are accepted to benefit the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and to keep the event free of charge. Music Frozen Dancing starts at 1 pm and goes until sundown.
