March in Chicago is one of those months that teases us with a hint of warm Spring weather, only to switch back to snow and frigid temps a few days later. The good thing is that there are free things to do indoors that give a hint of sunnier seasons.
The Garfield Park Conservatory supplies the chance to surround yourself with lush plants all year round but the annual Spring Flower Show is a great way to experience the benefits of spring without worrying about changing weather.
The free show runs through May but advance reservations are required.
Navy Pier offers indoor activities like strolling the pavilions, catching lake views from the big windows or eating your way from one end of the pier to the other. But there are also special events, like celebrating Holi as part of the Global Connections series on March 19.
The Chicago Cultural Center offers free tours every Thursday and Friday at 1:15 pm., and visitors can stroll through the historic halls and discover the building’s history as well as the world’s largest Tiffany dome.
The Harold Washington Library Center is not only one of the largest public libraries in the world, with millions of books, audio recordings and DVDs, it also boasts the dappled beauty of the winter garden.
