Just in time to add to holiday excursions, the Art Institute of Chicago has returned the museum fun of Free Winter Weekdays at the Art Institute of Chicago on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays through December 13, 2024.
Warm up from the freezing weather and roam through one of the best art collections in the world. Boasting over 300,000 works of art, the Art Institute offers something for every interest, from contemporary works, to Asian tapestries, medieval armor, African art and pop art.
Renowned for the largest collection of Impressionist art outside of France, view masterpieces from Monet, Seurat, Degas and Renoir, including famous pieces like “Water Lilies” and “A Sunday on La Grand Jatte.”
Illinois residents get free admission on December 5, 6, 9, 12 and 13. Hours are 11 am- 5 pm on Mondays and Fridays and 11 am- 8 pm on Thursdays.
Children ages 14-17, who are residents of the City of Chicago, are free on all days with a school ID, driver’s license, report card or other document indicating that they are a resident of the City of Chicago. All children under age 14 are always free as well as active duty military and Link and WIC card holders.
Whenever you visit, it’s a good idea to check the AIC Calendar for lectures, artist talks and other events open to the general public.
What you get on Free Day
The AIC free admission days offer free access to nearly everything except the Members Lounge and Member exclusive lectures. Occasionally, there are special ticketed exhibits that you will have to pay an extra fee to access.
