This year Target, CVS and Jewel have deals. If you don’t have health insurance and are a City of Chicago resident you can get a free flu shot at city health clinics. More info here. If you don’t have insurance and can’t get to a clinic try Good Rx for a discount coupon.
Free flu shot
Free flu shot refers to flu shots that are covered by your health insurance or Medicare. You must use your health insurance or Medicare to get the free flu shot. Call your insurer to confirm that they cover flu shots at Target, CVS and/or Jewel.
Target is offering a coupon for $5 off a $20 purchase to shoppers who get a free flu shot at a participating Target location. The coupon will have an expiration date however I couldn’t get anyone on the phone for the exact date after holding for 30 minutes. Limit one coupon per customer. Target Pharmacies are run by CVS. When I got my flu shot at the Target on State Street I got a coupon for $5 off a $5 purchase. YMMV.
CVS is offering a coupon for $5 off a $20 purchase to shoppers who get a free flu shot at a participating CVS location. The coupon will have an expiration date. Limit one coupon per customer.
Save 10% off your next shopping trip. The coupon can be applied to a purchase up to $200 worth of food products. The coupon will have an expiration date. The website says “Restrictions apply. Visit pharmacy for details.” I’m going to guess that the 10% off does not apply to booze, cigarettes, CTA passes, Money orders, etc. YMMV.
Whichever deal you chose I would call the pharmacy in advance and confirm they have a pharmacist or tech on duty who can administer the shot and that flu shots and coupons available. I would also confirm that your method of payment will qualify you for a coupon. COTC note 2021: It’s really hard to get someone on the phone in pharmacies! All three above allow you to schedule an appointment for your shot.
