Celebrate Greek culture and independence at the annual Greek Heritage Parade on April 7, 2024, in the Greektown neighborhood on the near west side.
Every year the Greek community celebrates its liberation from 400 years of Ottoman and Turkish occupation which occurred on March 25, 1821. The Greek Heritage Parade commemorates the anniversary of the Greek Declaration of Independence.
Experience the rich traditions of Greek culture with costumes, dance and music as troupes and floats march down Halsted Street. The parade kicks off at 2:30 pm but arrive early for the best viewpoints.
A prime viewing spot is on the rooftop of the National Hellenic Museum. Cap off the festivities with a flavorful meal at one of Greektown’s famous restaurants like Greek Islands or Athena Restaurant.
