Legendary Hip Hop MC, Roxanne Shante and iconic Salt N Pepa DJ Spindarella will host and spin at a free concert featuring local performers on August 25, 2023, in Millennium Park.
WBEZ and the National Public Housing Museum are presenting a free evening of music, art and discussion at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Roxanne Shante will host and DJ Spindarella will supply music for local performers including R&B musician Isaiah Sharkey, MacArthur-Award-winning pianist Reginald Robinson, R&B singer Slique Jay Adams and dancer Christopher “Mad Dog” Thomas.
An art installation based on the museum’s civic love and engagement tool kit will be displayed throughout the park and WBEZ’s “Rundown” podcast host Erin Allen will moderate a community conversation.
All of the artists have connections to public housing and the event will explore different aspects of community engagement and commitment to the common good. The free concert is scheduled for 6-9 pm.
