If you’re looking for something a little less expensive (and less intense) than the Chicago Bears, consider the Northwestern Wildcats. It has a manageable stadium, all the fun of Big Ten sports (marching bands, cheerleaders, goofy mascots), and tickets are generally less expensive than for the NFL. There’s a free, public party before every game known as Wildcat Alley, too.
You have to park in downtown Evanston and take a bus to the stadium, although Ryan Field is close to the Central Street stop on the Purple Line and the Metra UP North. And parking in Evanston is on the cheap side, unlike Soldier Field parking.
The Wildcats are running a family ticket package promotion this season, with four tickets, pizza, pop, and hats for as little as $89. Some games have discount tickets for healthcare employees, police officers and firefighters, and Evanston residents. If that’s not you, Groupon.com has discount tickets too.
Illinois v. Northwestern November 28, 2015 54% discount
