When: Monday May 20, 2019 Doors open at 8:00 a.m., pre-program begins at 10:00 a.m., and the ceremony will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Wintrust Arena, 200 E Cermak Rd. Free ticketing info Tickets will have seat numbers but they are not actual assignments. First come, first served.
Regardless of who you voted for in the primary or general election witness history and cheer (or catcall) your favorite Alderman.
I’ve never been to one of these so I’m not sure what goes on or who gets sworn in in what order. Presumably there will be some bloviating by multiple elected
officials and then the 50 Alderman, the City Clerk, the Treasurer and the Mayor will be sworn in.
I’m going to guess that the good seating will be reserved for politicians, their families and big donors and their families. The cheap seats will be up for grabs for the rest of us.
Parking will be limited. Paid parking is available at McCormick Place Lots A, B, and C. Take public transportation, cabs or rideshares to and from the event.
Guests should bring as few items as possible. Purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch bag (4.5″ x 6.5″ or 6.5″ x 4.5″) are not allowed. Food, beverages, signs, weapons and illegal substances are also not allowed. Full list of prohibited items.
City Hall 2pm 121 N. LaSalle 5th Floor
