Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Chicago and avoid surge pricing and long waits for cabs on New Year’s Eve night by hopping on a CTA train or bus for free. All CTA, Pace and Metra services will be free on December 31, 2022, starting at 10 pm.
Join all the city’s holiday festivities without worrying about driving or over-priced pickup fees. From 10 pm until 4 am on January 1, 2023, all Chicago trains and buses are free to ride. Remember not to tap your Ventra card or you will be charged. Just walk on the bus or into the station, the turnstiles should be open.
