Save money with ComEd Smart Meter. If you’ve had your Smart Meter installed you can sign up for notifications and receive emails from your Smart Meter. My meter emails me weekly with information on my energy use for a prior 7 day period.

What is a Smart Meter
A smart meter is capable of measuring and recording electric usage in hourly intervals. Some people are worried that their meter is spying on them or emitting harmful radiation. Just google “People afraid of ComEd Smart Meters” if you’re curious. I can report that my smart meter (where ever it is) only sends me one email a week and hasn’t done anything naughty.
Three money saving programs
If you have one you are eligible for three possible money saving programs listed below. Usually I try things and then report back to you but I’m not enrolled in any of these programs. My electric bill dropped in half after I installed energy saving light bulbs and bought an Energy Star refrigerator.

Com Ed offers three Smart Energy Programs.
Individual cost savings are not guaranteed and will vary month to month based on weather, market conditions, and usage habits. However, the more participants avoid using electricity when hourly prices are high, the more they can potentially save with Hourly Pricing. Program participants like you will have access to hourly prices, and will receive high price notifications and alerts in addition to other useful information.
If your home has a smart meter, you’re eligible to enroll in ComEd’s Peak Time Savings program and earn a credit on your electric bill when you participate voluntarily on days with Peak Time Savings Hours. There is no cost to enroll and you can remain in the program for as long as you like.

Get emails from your electric meter
Your meter will email you weekly usage, your highest day and when you login you can drill down to your hourly usage by day. You have to sign up for alerts in your account.
