Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration of Irish culture doesn’t stop with the parades. There are dozens of Irish pubs and restaurants that serve up Irish bites and drinks all year round but they really turn up the festivities for St. Pat’s Day.
Whether you just want to sip a pint of Guinness or you have a taste for corned beef and cabbage, check out these spots to really get Irish eyes smiling.
Fado’ Irish Pub
100 W. Grand Ave.
This Irish-owned pub supplies a traditional ambiance with an impressive live music schedule. For St. Pat’s Day, Fado’ holds a series of special events.
Don’t miss the St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event to benefit kids with cancer on March 11 and there’s also a buy one, get one, half off fish and chips all day. On March 12th, doors open at 8:30 am for the parade and there’s no cover until 1 pm.
On St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, celebrate with live bands from 2 pm-midnight, with a $10 cover charge.
Emerald Loop Bar & Grill
216 N. Wabash Ave.
Soak up your helping of green beer at this classic downtown Chicago bar. Emerald Loop Bar & Grill opens at 8 am on March 12th for the parade and will host dancers, bagpipers and Irish musicians.
The bar opens at 10 am on March 17 and will be supplying more live music and the regular menu’s Irish cocktails and Irish sausage rolls.

Filled with charming Irish decor and voted one of the best Irish pubs in the world, Chief O’Neill’s is the ultiamte spot for Irish cuisine, drinks and music.
On March 12, a big line-up of live music runs from 9 am- 9:30 pm. Irish specialties like shepard’s pie, fish & chips and corned beef and cabbage will be available. The cover is $10.
On March 13, a Sunday brunch of Irish fare will be served from 10 am-3 pm along with live music. On March 17, WGN-TV will broadcast live from the pub and live music begins at noon with a $10 cover charge starting at 4 pm.
Shamrock N’ the Block
700 W. Adams St.
The historic Old St. Patrick’s church hosts this family-friendly annual event in a heated tent in front of the church. Shamrock N’ the Block kicks off on March 12, from noon -6:30 pm.
The event includes a beer garden, Irish dishes, bagpipers and dancers and crafts for the kids.

These beloved Southside Irish bars provide Irish cheer all year round with pints and traditional dishes. Head to either the Beverly or Bridgeport location for a healthy portion of corned beef and cabbage, Irish brews, and a friendly atmosphere.
