The personal and collective histories of Black, Indigenous and People of Color and the impact of the American Indian Wars and the” Global War on Terror,” is the focus of the multi-media exhibit, Surviving The Long Wars: Unlikely Entanglements, opening at the Hyde Park Art Center on March 18, 2023.
Examining the legacies of the longest wars in American history,” Surviving The Long Wars” showcases perspectives and the parallels between artwork by civilians affected by these wars and BIPOC military veterans. The art pieces include soft sculpture, video, embroidery and collage to display histories of militarism, survival and resistance.
The exhibit runs through July 9, 2023, and is free and open to the public. The Hyde Park Art Center is open seven days a week, Monday-Thursday 10 am- 7 pm, Friday 10 am- 4:30 pm, Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 10 am-1:30 pm. Masks and social distancing are required.
