Bayless Garden
The Bayless home is located in Wicker Park/Bucktown adjacent to the Bloomingdale Trail so you might want to combine your tour with a visit to the Trail. We easily found street parking a couple blocks away and you can get there on public transit. You will receive the address after you register.
What’s included
I took this tour in 2011. It’s amazing what he packs into his double City of Chicago lot. All the lettuces, edible flowers and other produce grown in his yard are used in his restaurants. There’s also a beautiful perennial garden, a koi pond and worm composting area.
In addition to learning about how they maintain a successful urban organic garden you can peak into the kitchen where Mr. Bayless films his PBS cooking show and you’ll see his grilling area and outdoor dining area also featured on the shows.
Garden Getaway Tours
An extended version of the summer evening tour that includes wine, appetizers, and more time to relax in this beautiful urban setting. June 14, June 28, July 26, Aug 2 from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm. Tickets are $75/person.
Fun Rick Bayless fact: His brother is Skip Bayless the “outspoken” Fox1 commentator.
