Free trees from MWRD

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) Restore the Canopy program offers FREE Black, Pin, Red and White Oak saplings. Click here for a brochure on the program and how to plant and care for your sapling.

Visit the following water reclamation plants (WRPs) every Wednesday from April – October between 9AM to 12PM to pick up free saplings.

Calumet Water Reclamation Plant, 400 E. 130th St., Chicago
O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant, 3500 Howard Street, Skokie
Stickney Water Reclamation Plant, 6001 W. Pershing Rd., Cicero
Egan Water Reclamation Plant, 550 South Meacham Rd, Schaumburg
Hanover Park Water Reclamation Plant, 1220 Sycamore Ave., Hanover Park
Kirie Water Reclamation Plant, 701 West Oakton St., Des Plaines

All of these trees will eventually grow to be very large so make sure you have room for it in your yard.
