Where to dine near the Auditorium Theatre. Going to the theater can be expensive and if you want to make an afternoon or evening out of it dining adds to the cost. Mercat a La Planxa, 638 South Michigan Avenue, (312) 765-0524. Tapas, excellent, pricey but worth the splurge.
Miller’s Pub, 134 S Wabash Ave (312) 263-4988. An institution with good pub food. No happy hour.
Lockwood, Palmer House, 17 E Monroe St, (312) 917-3404. Expensive but a beautiful place to have a cocktail.
Plymouth Restaurant, 327 S Plymouth Ct, 4th floor (312) 362-1212. The roof is retractable so it’s open year round. Nice view of the Harold Washington Library Center. Has indoor area also.
Tesori, 65 E. Adams, (312) 786-9911. Excellent pizza and reasonably priced wine. Good happy hour.
