Grab your thong and unicycle and join in
If you aren’t familiar with this event it is what it sounds like. Hundreds of people riding bicycles, tricycles, unicycles, skating etc. through the streets clad mostly in some combination of thongs, pasties, body paint and shoes and fanny packs. They happened to ride by a party I was at one year at Kinzie Park. They were riding east on Kinzie at Canal toward the Loop. It’s … interesting.
If you want to make an extreme free speech statement and participate go here. Otherwise if you’re going to be out and about why not grab a to-go cup and head over to somewhere along the route.
Check here for the route and recommended viewing locations.
What is it
World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike (or other person powered) event where participants ride en masse for the dual purpose of bringing attention to people powered transport and promoting positive body image.
What to wear
The event is bare-as-you-dare; anything from body paint to underwear to fanciful costumes are encouraged. Due to legal restrictions in Chicago, full frontal nudity is at your own risk, but large numbers of participants do go all out. Large-scale body painting is typically available pre-ride, and personal expression is encouraged.
