The Andersonville neighborhood celebrates its Swedish heritage and culture with the 57th annual Andersonville Midsommarfest from June 9 through June 11, 2023.
One of Chicago’s oldest and most anticipated street festivals, Andersonville Midsommarfest supplies over 50 live musical acts on three stages. The fest also includes vendors, food, kids’ activities and Swedish traditions like dancing around the Maypole. Featured performers include JC Brooks, Arianna DJ and the Jesse White Tumblers.
This year, Andersonville Midsommerfest supports LBGTQ+ rights with Midsommerfest: Drag is not a Crime-A Night of Trans Joy, with a family-friendly celebration of the community on Friday, June 9, from 4-9 pm. Face painting, a manicure artist and a drag show will be highlights.
Another new feature this year is Rollerskating at Midsommerfest, with skating at the Cheetah Gym parking lot during the fest. Advance tickets, including skate rental, are recommended.
Admission is free with a $10 suggested donation. The fest runs from 5- 10 pm on Friday, June 10, and noon-10 pm on Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12. The activities will kick off along Andersonville’s Clark Street corridor, from Catalpa to Foster Ave.
