Every year the Chicago Park District host four camping events at select parks. This year one of the parks will be Northerly Island!
Family Camping at Northerly Island
When: Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 2:00 PM – 10:00 AM (Oct 2) Registration opens July 10 9AM.Cancelled
Where: Northerly Island Park, 1521 S. Linn White Dr., (312) 745-2910 (Fieldhouse). Portion of the Trail Closed – For the safety of our visitors, the east portion of the trail in the nature area is blocked off until further notice. We are currently consulting with the Army Corps of Engineers to repair the erosion damage on the trail from the winter weather.
Cost: $50 for up to six family members, age six and up. Register here. Registration will open two months prior and is limited to 100 campers. The $50 fee includes up to six family members, age six and up, the use of a tent and fishing gear. You have to bring your own food and beverages. No booze allowed. A parent or guardian must participate. Camping is open to all area residents not just City of Chicago residents.
The CPD’s camping is a Camping 101 event that teaches basic camping skills from their experts, camping (tent only) and fishing equipment are provided. If you’re a camping novice after you experience Family Camping you’ll have all the know-how needed to camp on your own. Take a nature hike, go fishing, learn basic camping principles, and enjoy a campfire.
