DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center celebrates Juneteenth, the oldest nationally recognized commemoration of the ending of slavery in the U.S., with an all-day Juneteenth Celebration on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Yoga, horseback riding, a farmers market, roller skating and special musical performances will be featured during this day of remembrance. Food trucks, kids’ activities and ceremonies commemorating Juneteenth will also be featured.
This year, Juneteenth falls during the Black Power Era month of study in the museum’s yearlong Introduction to African American Studies course, and so the spirit and legacy of Black Power will be highlighted as part of the day’s festivities.
A vendor marketplace with over 80 local, Black-owned businesses will supply artisan goods, apparel, jewelry and art. The event will include a full day of celebration, reflection, and community. Enjoy a vibrant mix of education, entertainment, food and local vendors in honor of Black history, culture, and freedom. The event is free and runs from 8 am-8:30 pm.
