Inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, Christkindlmarket is Chicago’s largest open-air market. It’s a German and European holiday market and Christmas festival featuring European arts and crafts, homemade gifts, choirs, carolers and German food and beer.

Children’s Lantern Parade Schedule of Events:
4 – 5 pm: Children’s Lantern Parade registration. Registration begins at 4:00 pm, at which time lighted lanterns can be purchased for $10. Alternatively, lanterns may be brought from home (note: no candles allowed). Click here to reserve a lantern.5 pm: Lantern Parade with the Christkind. Experience the typical celebration of St. Martin’s Day in Germany! The tradition of St. Martin is celebrated by German school children in honor of good Samaritans. Children and families are invited to parade around the market plaza while singing German and American Christmas carols. The Christkind will be leading the parade and every participant will receive a goody bag.5:30 pm: Goody bag pick up for participants
