Chicago’s acclaimed Museum of Contemporary Art is not just the place to view cutting-edge art pieces, it’s also one of the most popular spots to hear free Summer jazz concerts. The beloved Tuesdays on the Terrace music series returns from June 24 to August 26, 2025.

Spreading a blanket on the MCA’s terrace and swaying to live local jazz musicians is one of the highlights of the Summer. There are two sets, starting at 5:30 pm and ending at 8:00 pm. This year, other genres of music will be featured, including blues, house, bomba, hip hop and more.
Food and beverages are sold on the upper terrace at the bar but it sells out quickly so either bring your own picnic or arrive early. Tickets are always free for Illinois residents but admission is on a first-come, first-served basis so it’s always good to arrive at least an hour in advance.
In case of rain, the show moves indoors at the Edlis Neeson Theater.
This year’s schedule features popular local musicians, including Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few, Bethany Pickens’s Soulful Coalition and renowned trumpeter Corey Wilkes. The MCA is always free on Tuesdays for Illinois residents and the galleries are open late, until 9 pm for after-the-show viewing.
