Bioblitz
The purpose of a bioblitz is to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other living things that make their home in a certain area. And in this case, Chicago and the surrounding areas.
This year’s LPZ celebrates pollinators. There are several free activities to learn more about native animals and plants and how you can help conserve them.
Individuals, families, or a group of friends will receive training via Zoom with staff from the Zoo’s Urban Wildlife Institute, Horticulture and Learning teams to investigate plants and animals in your neighborhood.

Friday, October 8, 6-7pm: Kickoff and Introduction to iNaturalist (on Zoom)
October 8-10: Independent data collection in a safe green space near you (using iNaturalist). There are in-person bird walks Register Here and Free Garden Tours Lincoln Park Zoo at October 9, 2021. COTC note: The Bird Walk is full. You maybe able to show up and just join due to no-shows. YMMV.
Saturday, October 9 throughout the day during zoo hours, no registration required. Bird Chats The chat schedule will be available at Searle Visitor Center.
Join Lincoln Park Zoo educators at some of the zoo’s most intriguing bird habitats to learn all about the creatures we care for and live alongside. And be sure to take our free materials home with you to help make your windows safe for migrating birds.
Tuesday, October 12, 6-7pm: Celebration and Wrap-Up (on Zoom)
BioBlitz trainings will occur on Zoom, and we will use the free app iNaturalist to collect data. Remember to dress for the weather when collecting data outside and to wear a mask and maintain social distance.
