Where to dine near the Broadway Playhouse. Going to the theater can be expensive and if you want to make an afternoon or evening out of it dining adds to the cost. Following are reasonably priced restaurants and Happy Hours. Always check the website or call for hours before heading over. The area around the Broadway Playhouse has a ton of reasonably priced option and I’ve thrown in a couple of splurge-worthy pricey options.

Foodease, Water Tower Place, 835 N. Michigan Ave, Mezzanine Level, 312-335-3663, Foodease offers cafeteria style food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most items are sold by weight. You can easily get a full meal for under $10. There’s seating both inside and outside of Foodease.
Foodlife, Water Tower Place, 835 N. Michigan Ave, Purchase food from 14 different kitchens that you can either eat there or take to go. Here’s how it works. If you’re careful you can get a complete meal for less than $10 for lunch or dinner.

Jake Melnick’s, 41 E Superior St, (312) 266-0400. Bar food. Excellent chili, reasonably prices beer, wine, booze.
Le Pain Quotidien, 10 East Delaware Place, (312) 380-6665. Generally I don’t publish chains but this Belgium-based chain makes excellent, mostly organic soups, salads, fresh baked bread (whole wheat sour dough – hello!). Excellent.
M Burger, Water Tower Place, 835 N. Michigan, Part of Foodlife on the Mezzanine. Cheap and delicious burgers, fries and shakes. Save money with Ritual
Margeaux Brasserie, Waldorf Astoria, 11 E. Walton, (312) 625-1324. The small cafe off the Lobby makes excellent salads, quiches and more and serves booze. The full restaurant located on the 3rd floor has a really good happy hour.

Pierrot Gourmet at The Peninsula, 108 E. Superior, (312) 337-2888. A little pricey but excellent salads, sandwiches. Happy hour.
RL Restaurant, 115 E. Chicago Ave, (312)475-1100 Pricey worth the splurge. Order carefully with a couple glasses of wine $60-$70.
Rosebud on Rush, 720 N. Rush, (312) 266-6444. Good reasonably priced Italian.
Silver Spoon Thai, 710 N. Rush (312) 944-7100. Basic decor but excellent reasonably priced Japanese and Thai food located next to the Thai Consulate.
Taste Bar, Located in Macy’s, 1st floor in the back of the store across from the entrance to the Ritz-Carlton. Surprisingly good soups and sandwiches under $10. Macy’s website is so heinous I couldn’t find the menu,
